Attention ALL JTHS Dance/Pe Dance/Pep Squad Students:
I am so excited to start the new year! I wanted to give you a quick head's up on items you will need for dance classes this year so that you can be prepared. All dance class students will need to have a folder with pockets & brads, notebook paper and pencil or pen. We can only allow two styles of shoes on our dance and gym floors: non-marking athletic shoes OR black jazz shoes. Jazz shoes can be purchased at Razzmatazz or at Academy. These are the only shoes allowed. Socks, sandals, Toms/Bobs. Sperry's, flats, etc. are not allowed. Bare feet are allowed during certain units but footwear is required for the classes. This is a safety issue. For dance and PE dance classes we ask that students wear a black leotard or t-shirt and black leggings/yoga pants/jazz pants/shorts. No camis or tank tops allowed. Make sure that shirts and bottoms are not see through and cover the body during movement. Make sure the shorts are at a modest and appropriate length for movement and modesty. Pep Squad students are required to purchase a black leotard, black jazz pants, and black jazz shoes. All can be purchased at Razzmatazz.
Proper dance attire and footwear is required not only for safety but for success in these classes. Students are given two weeks to acquire these items. Students may be asked to dress out before that deadline. Instructions on temporary dress out attire will be given in class. Please feel free to call or email me if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Sabra Godair
